Ida Aldrian, mezzo soprano

Ida Aldrian was born in 1986 in Bruck an der Mur (Austria). At the age of five years she began her musical education at the Urban Music School, Bruck an der Mur, playing the recorder. Later she studied piano and violin and also singing. In 2004 she passed the general qualification for university entrance with distinction.

She started her vocal training with Sigrid Rennert. In 2004 she started her study at the University of Music and Art Vienna with Leopold Spitzer. In 2006 and 2008 she passed the first two diplomas with distinction.

Since 2008 she has been studying Lied and Oratorio with KS Marjana Lipovšek and complements her education in the opera-class of Didier Orlowsky and Uwe Theimer.

Aditionally Ida Aldrian has taken part in masterclasses of KS Marjana Lipovšek, Alfred Burgstaller, Thomas Hampson und Claudia Visca.

The young mezzo-soprano Ida Aldrian won first prizes at the competition "Prima la musica" in Graz and Vienna in 2004. She also got advancement-prizes of the University of Music and Art Vienna in 2005 and 2006.

She works regularly with European ensembles and orchestras, amongst others the baroque orchestras "barucco" and "Il Concerto Tivoli", "Das Haydn Quartett", Savaria Symphony Orchestra Szombathely, Philharmonique Orchestra Györ. Furthermore she is member in the vocal ensemble "a piu voci", which specializes in the Early music a capella repertoire.

In November 2006 she was engaged to sing in W. A. Mozart's Requiem in Osaka (Japan), conducted by Wolfgang Sauseng. In 2008 she participated in a performance in J. Haydn's Oratorio "Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze" in the Konzerthaus in Vienna.

Her manifold repertoire includes pieces ranging from the Renaissance to the Baroque and Classical era, till the repertoire of Romantic and contemporary music.

Besides her concert-activities, Ida Aldrian is also successful on the opera stage. In 2008 she sang the role of "Aristea" in A. Vivaldi's "L'Olimpiade" at the donauFESTWOCHEN im strudengau. In the same year she performed the part of "Bradamante" in G. F. Handel's opera "Alcina" in the Neue Studiobühne and Schloßtheater Schönbrunn Vienna. The latter was a production with the Wiener Akademie, conducted by Maurice Lieshout.
