Drawing on the stock characters of the Commedia dell’arte, the Neapolitan composer Pergolesi created a miniature comic gem about a beautiful and ambitious servant girl that connives to improve her lot in life by tricking her master into marrying her. Renowned soprano Christine Brandes and baritone Nathaniel Watson join players of Musica Angelica for a semi-staged performance of La Serva Padrona. The program also includes Telemann’s charming "Gulliver Suite" and other instrumental works.
