St. Matthew Passion
Thank you to The Colburn Foundation, under the direction of Carol Colburn Grigor, the daughter of Richard Colburn. The Colburn Foundation has provided a special grant for St. Matthew Passion to establish this unique sacred oratorio as an annual tradition in Los Angeles.
Saturday, March 28 at 6 PM & Sunday, March 29 at 3 PM
Johann Sebastian Bach’s sacred oratorio St. Matthew Passion is a firmly established Southern California tradition. Patrons may enjoy this magnificent work of art featuring two Baroque orchestras performing with a double choir and an award-winning cast of American vocal soloists.
This thrillingly intense music will soar in the beautiful acoustics of the First Congregational Church of Long Beach on Saturday, March 28, 2026 and the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles on Sunday, March 29, 2026 to create an unforgettable musical experience.
St. Matthew Passion is presented annually and features some of the finest musical talent ever assembled to present the remarkable story of Christ’s crucifixion. The Colburn Foundation has enabled Musica Angelica to bring this world class performance to Southern California audiences for many years and this season’s St. Matthew Passion will continue that tradition.
